Alistair Smith is a pastry chef with an international background. Born into a family that traveled to all corners of the world, he has lived in Brasilia, Paris, Budapest, Hanoi, and Rabat. His journey into the world of pastry began at the age of 18 at the Ferrandi school, where he learned at Fauchon with Chef François Daubinet. Continuing his apprenticeship, Alistair learned bakery at the prestigious palace of the Bristol. He then joined Le Pré Catelan, where he had the opportunity to explore the world of fine dining and desserts under Chef Tom Coll. He later joined Chef Angelo Musa’s brigade at the Plaza Athénée.
His path led him to the École de Boulangerie et de Pâtisserie de Paris, where he won the final of the Best Apprentice of France competition in the Restaurant Dessert category, earning him the position of Junior Teacher at the school.
Subsequently, he decided to focus on preparing for the Junior Pastry World Cup, for which he was selected in September 2023 as the chocolate candidate to represent France. As part of a team with Julien Maheux and under the coaching of Pierre-Henri Roulard, France won the Pastry World Cup for the first time in January 2024.
Today, Alistair Smith runs his own consulting business specializing in assisting companies in the pastry business. His services include short, medium, and long-term support, with regular follow-up to help clients develop their offerings or solve various production issues or he can also assit brands wishing to organize a customized event. He fully adapts to the expectations and requirements of his clients.
