There is a new three Michelin stars restaurant!
The Michelin Guide to the Netherlands 2018, the last Guide of the year, has been released and the big news is that there is a new three Michelin stars restaurant.
Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen has been open since 1977 and has, amazingly, been waiting for its third Michelin star since 1984. The kitchen, helmed by chef Jannis Brevet, tuens out local produce inspired by both land and sea. This means the Netherlands now has three Michelin star restaurants: Inter Scaldes, De Leest and De Librije.
There are no new two star restaurants this year, but six new one-star restaurants, meaning the Netherlands now has a total of 108 Michelin-starred restaurants.

‘We’ve worked for this for a long, long time,’ said Claudia Brevet of the husband and wife team who run the restaurant. ‘It’s been about blood, sweat and tears… but the result is worth it.’ Inter Scaldes won its first Michelin star in 1978 and has had a second since 1984. Jannis Brevet took over the kitchen in 2001.
