The 17 Gault Millau points and one Michelin Star awarded headchef Jeroen Achtien is now cooking in the Fine Dining Restaurant SENS 1605. It clearly connects on a remarkable culinary level with the history of the Magic Mountain. Exquisite meals and fine dining are, after all, an integral part of the novel. For an unforgettable culinary experience, allow Jeroen Achtien and his team to take you on a journey into a delicious world of innovative and exciting creations.

An old soul with a young heart

There are few places on earth where all the beauties of nature converge. At the foot of the famous Mount Rigi (1,797 metres) stands Hotel Vitznauerhof, a striking building in Art Nouveau style, dating from 1901, with its distinctive tower, at the edge of the crystal clear waters of mystical Lake Lucerne.

The atmosphere at the hotel is infused with the excitement of the young team led by chef Jeroen Achtien. The Dutchman won his spurs at the celebrated restaurant De Librije (three Michelin stars) back in his home country. Achtien heads both of Hotel Vitznauerhof’s restaurants. Restaurant Sens, the culinary flagship, serves regional specialities and modern creations. Take a table on the gorgeous little wooden jetty jutting out into the lake, and you’re guaranteed to captivate anyone you take for dinner.
